「このたび、ユージーン・スタジオ／現代美術家・寒川裕人氏とともに、パリにて展覧会を開催できますことを大変光栄に思います。
寒川氏は、平面から大型インスタレーション、彫刻、映像に至るまで自在に往還し、その表現は美術史や哲学に根ざした深い思索と、現代的で研ぎ澄まされた美意識とを響き合わせています。抽象性を帯びつつも感覚に鋭く訴えかける作品は、知性と感性の双方を揺り動かす力を備えています。
本展で紹介する〈Light and shadow inside me〉シリーズは、写真用印画紙を素材に、光と時間の痕跡を物質として定着させることで、絵画でも写真でもない新たな表現の地平を切り拓こうとするものです。
A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKEは、常に素材と構造の根源に立ち返り、衣服の新たな可能性を探究してきました。本プロジェクトでは、寒川氏の思索に触発され、布を構成する最小単位「一本の糸」に立ち戻りました。白と黒、二色の糸のみを用い、織りの組織と密度によって光と影の階調を描き出す実践は、印画紙と光の現象を布の言語へと翻訳する挑戦でもあります。
—— 光と影、この根源的な要素から豊かな表情を導き出す寒川氏の美学は、私たちの創作に新たな視座をもたらしました。本展は、アートと衣服が交差し、光と影が共存する根源的な美を探る実験の場です。歴史と文化が幾重にも折り重なるパリの地で、この挑戦を多くの方々と分かち合えることを心より楽しみにしております。」
