About the Exhibition
Excerpt from the original Japanese text
Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Damien Hirst, Katharina Grosse, and more—unmissable contemporary art of today comes together.
The Taguchi Art Collection is one of Japan’s leading collections of contemporary art, assembled over two generations by entrepreneur Hiroshi Taguchi and his daughter, Miwa Taguchi. It encompasses works from across the world, including the United States, Europe, Central and South America, Africa, Asia, and Japan.
Selected from a collection of more than 700 works, the exhibition presents approximately 100 works—including painting, photography, sculpture, and moving image—by 80 artists active internationally. The exhibition title, MINEBANE!, is an Akita dialect expression meaning “You have to see it.” Across two venues, the exhibition considers “the workings of nature,” “the workings of people,” “monochrome,” and “colour,” offering an occasion not to be missed to encounter the present of contemporary art.
