Contents (from the lecture syllabus)
In today's increasingly complex and rapidly changing society, issues that cannot be solved solely by scientific and logical means, or by means of seeking optimal solutions, are emerging one after another. In a complex society consisting of diverse people, seeking more flexible and varied solutions is essential. In the field of Advanced Art and Design at the University of Tokyo, we aim to return to the natural environment and the sensibilities cultivated there. By reviewing science and technology from the perspective of human nature through sensibility, we aim to disseminate to the world Japan's original science, technology, art, and design for the development of a sustainable, inclusive society. In this lecture, we invite world-leading professionals actively working at the forefront in the fields of art and design to discuss the future with our students.
