Kangawa uses the low-rise house, which he moved into in its newly built condition at the beginning of 2017, as both his atelier and home in Tokyo. Opening the front door, visitors are greeted by a warm atmosphere as music plays from the top of the stairs. “We get all kinds of visitors here every day,” he said. The light and airy storage furniture, which he made himself, incorporates some antique pieces from 1950s England. It is decorated with vessels sent by Assemble, a group of British architects, and flower vases made by Yoshinori Takemura, a potter with whom the family has a close friendship. The shelves are often adorned with a Beosound Level and a treasured collection of art books.
