東京都現代美術館にて開催中の『ユージーン・スタジオ 新しい海 EUGENE STUDIO After the rainbow』の関連企画として、2022年1月10日(月・祝)に東京都写真美術館、東京都現代美術館と2つの会場にわたる特別プログラムを開催します。日中は恵比寿の東京都写真美術館、夜間は清澄白河の東京都現代美術館にて1日を通じて、本展をより深く体験していただく機会です。2つのプログラムは1つの予約で参加可能です。(本プログラムは無料です)

本企画は、1月10日の日中に東京都写真美術館にて、ユージーン・スタジオの寒川裕人が監督をつとめ、2021年よりアメリカで発表された2つの短編映画の特別上映を行います。この2作はともに、現在まで、ロードアイランド国際映画祭、ヒューストン国際映画祭、ブルックリン国際映画祭、パンアフリカン映画祭、Amdocsなどアカデミー賞®公認を含む多くの国際映画祭で受賞やオフィシャルセレクションへの選出が続いているなか、本展を記念して、1日限りの特別上映会が実現しました。
その後、同日18時より、東京都現代美術館にて一般閉館後の特別鑑賞会および作家本人によるギャラリートークを行います。

上映内容 (ArtStickerより抜粋)

『SANSUI LLAFRETAW』(2021年、字幕、モノクロ、日本)

東北地方に伝わる、山岳宗教の山道の自然風景を撮った映像。 夜の月の山から滝、霧の平原、太陽の山々など、天と地を静かに駆け巡る循環を、白黒で捉えた映像。 2014年から寒川が撮りためた白黒の自然風景のみで構成された本作は、コロナの中、無人でもめぐり続けるドキュメンタリー映画としても評価され、ブルックリン国際映画祭、Amdocsなどのアカデミー賞®やBAFTA公認の映画祭、ヒューストン国際映画祭での最高賞受賞をはじめ、その他オフィシャルセレクションが続く。寒川裕人が監督/撮影監督。

作家のコメント

"暗闇で待ち続けながら、光を待ったという撮影時の体験が、現在の社会状況と同じように感じました。
また、「漆黒能」や今回東京都現代美術館の個展で展示している「想像」の原型を撮影の最中に思いついた、思い入れのある作品でもあります。
映像は、標高が高いところから見た風景からはじまり、徐々に降りていき、平野に至り、また最後に高いところへ段々と登っていくという構成になっています。数年撮っていた映像を、再度短編の映画へと編集しました。"

 


 

『Purple, Green, Blue』(2021年、英語、アメリカ)※日本語字幕つき

ガブリエル、ティエンの二人の父親と、その養子の家庭の一瞬を描く。アフリカンとアジアン二人の父親の家庭を描いた美しい映像や本編終盤の畳み掛けるような編集で、パンアフリカン国際映画祭、ヒューストン国際映画祭など複数の国際映画祭でオフィシャルセレクションが続く。アメリカ・中国・日本のプロデューサー、クルーでロサンゼルスで撮影された。

作家のコメント

"この作品は、いくつかの自分の実際の体験をもとに、2019年の年末に、アメリカ・ロサンゼルスで撮影を行いました。
オーディションで役者さんにあってから、あらすじを変え、アフリカンとアジアンということ、性別など根本的なところを含めた設定が決まりました。
20分という一瞬で過ぎる映像ですが、長いワークショップのようなものだったと思っています。今回のように、2つの短編映画を一緒に見るのは初めてです。
展覧会とあわせて楽しんでいただければと思います。"
