The EUGENE Studio produced a new video work, “HOPE” for Diesel’s 2016 S/S collection. A special installation will be open at Shinjuku Isetan. In the venue, with the cooperation with Sony, their cutting-edge VPL-GTZ1 ultra short throw 4K SXRD laser, dynamic and compelling atmosphere is realized.
About the new short film, “HOPE”
“HOPE” was produced at the request from Diesel. This video work is a re-editing of Kangawa’s previous work, “i Emmigrant” that explores the theme of migrant. “i Emmigrant” is based upon the interviews with foreigners who left their homeland and stay Japan for a long time.
In the pop-up store at Isetan Shinjuku, still pictures from the sequence decorate the walls. These images are rendered from the cuts in which flowers and plants are captured with nightfall or strong light in the darkness. Besides these techniques, Kangawa’s interpretation such as a traveler wandering modern days, “EXPLORER = migrant” as a vagabond, or the seasonal setting resonate with DIesel’s theme, “DIGITAL EXPLORER” and their keyword, “MID SUMMER NIGHT DREAMER”.
